COLD SWEAT, HOT RIDE AND LOUD MUSIC
AT THEIR PERFORMANCE AT THE "BEER FEST" STEREO MC’S WILL PLAY THE SONGS FROM THEIR LATEST ALBUM, TOGETHER WITH THEIR FAMOUS HITS
Stereo Mc’s have already had their concerts in Belgrade several times. This British hip-hop electro band was one of the best and most popular during the nineties. Their energetic concerts are still remembered and still represent an attraction. We hope to see one of those concerts, at this year’s Belgrade Beer Fest, on Wednesday, August 12th. This being the reason, we have invited the front man of this band, Rob Birch.
Rob Birch: We have been in Belgrade several times and in a way we know the audience. Every time the audience was loud, hearty and enthusiastic. Our concerts are known for the energy we give out. This time we will perform mostly new songs and the remixes from our latest album Double Bubble (2008). Of course, we will not forget the hits. In 2009, I see us as: Stereo Mc’s equals cold sweat, hot ride and loud music! YC: How would you describe the development of the electro musical scene since your emergence (1985) till today?
RB: Music moves in cyclical energy waves. At our start, hip-hop was revolutionary and it was changing the music world like that world was changed with punk. Today, we have a world of "lap top music", which can be made anywhere, at any time and which can be shared with anyone. Let’s say that we can download a rhythm from Belgrade, add a vocal and send it back to Belgrade, and all that in just one day. Different cultures make different ideas, and in the end, all of them can end up together, in the same pot: dubstep, funk, techno, minimal, rave, punk, rap, disco, dub...
YC: Care you completely satisfied with the last year’s album "Double Bubble"? Do you have some new songs already?
RB: I believe this is one of the best albums we have made and we are very excited when it comes to live performance. Also, we have made some new remixes, and audience will have the opportunity to hear them as well.
